About the Physician Health Program
The Physician Health Program is an independent non-profit society, with three funding sources:
- BCMA (1979)
- CPSBC (1979)
- Ministry of Health (2006)
We are an employee and family assistance program for physians, providing mental health and addiction support. We also provide an occupational health service for physicians, providing return-to-work / stay-at-work support and negotiating supportive working conditions with whomever physicians’ work affects their health or whomever physicians’ health affects their work.
The Physician Health Program strives to provide advocacy and support for physicians, including those in training and their families, who are experiencing problems related to personal and family emotional health issues, the inappropriate use of alcohol and/or drugs or coping with physical illness.
