Realistic Script Writing

During this phase of the project, from June through to the middle of July, we developed eight scenarios into 2 minute scripts illustrating realistic communication between the characters.

INT. PHYSICIAN'S OFFICE - OFFICE HOURS

PRECEPTOR sits behind desk with open file in front of her, while RESIDENT sits at front of desk.

PHYSICIAN come to ADMINISTRATOR's office to ask him about the recent departmental cuts.

PHYSICIAN tries to raise his concerns, and ADMINISTRATOR tries to change the subject - uses "buzz-words" like [quality of care, value, efficiency etc]. 

After a couple minutes, ADMINISTRATOR cuts off the conversation, leading PHYSICIAN out the door, and PHYSICIAN leaves without being herad.

 

INT. HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATOR'S OFFICE - OFFICE HOURS

ADMINISTRATOR is watering potted plant with coffee cup, with back to open door. PHYSICIAN arrives at door.

INT. DOCTOR'S OFFICE - OFFICE HOURS

PATIENT is sitting in office. PHYSICIAN walks in.

INT. DOCTORS' LOUNGE

COLLEAGUE seated. PHYSICIAN comes in, gets a coffee from the machine.  No one else is present.

INT. DOCTOR'S OFFICE - OFFICE HOURS

PATIENT is waiting for PHYSICIAN to arrive in the examining room.  PATIENT is standing, or pacing around room, seems angry.

PHYSICIAN enters the room, concerned look on her face

INT. RADIOLOGISTS OFFICE, LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON

RESIDENT knocks on door and sticks head in.

CONCERNED COLLEAGUE is sitting at her desk writing notes.  PHYSICIAN enters the room with a cup of coffee, bedraggled and exhausted. 

CONCERNED COLLEAGUE tried to talk to PHYSICIAN, mentioning that she's been noticing that he has been looking really exhusted lately, and that she's been concerned for a while, and wonders if everything is ok. 

PHYSICIAN at first get a little bit defensive and then just "laughs it off", which the CONCERNED COLLEAGUE reads as apathy and denial. 

The conversation doesn't lead to any real solutions or a way to move foreward.

INT. OFFICE - OFFICE HOURS

HOSPITALIST and DEPT HEAD are sitting across the desk from each other
