Medicine and Motherhood: Can We Talk? Consensus Statement Published
Posted March 23rd, 2010 by adminPregnancy and the postpartum period are physically and emotionally demanding times for any woman, and particularly for pregnant/new-mother doctors who may be required do shift work, be on call or be on their feet for long stretches at a time. The unspoken message within the medical culture that doctors – both male and female – are supposed to be able to “do it all” makes it hard for pregnant and postpartum doctors to ask for special accommodation during this temporary and important time in their lives.
